Reliable RS485 installations begin with power and grounding. Confirm voltage at the sensor under load and separate noisy pump or motor circuits where possible.
Use a daisy-chain bus, terminate both physical ends and avoid long star branches. Document the address, baud rate, parity and register map.
Store timestamps, quality flags and raw values. Alarm logic should consider persistence and rate of change instead of reacting to one isolated sample.
